Hi! I’m Maria Odufuye, script editor & consultant and the face of script-ed. I work with writers to develop scripts in preparation for distribution and I also facilitate ‘Intro to Script Editing’ workshops for students and recent graduates.

My love of storytelling comes from playing endless hours of The Sims (I'm a motherlode girl for those who know), and watching shows such as EastEnders, Footballers Wives and Bad Girls - which I was far too young to be watching at the time.
I have 10+ years of experience working with words and storytelling across theatre, print, and e-zines. I’ve been script editing, reading and consulting across TV and film for the last 5, working on: Playing Nice (ITV/Rabbit Track Pictures/StudioCanal); Your Christmas or Mine 2 (Amazon/Shiny Button); Sex Education 4 (Netflix/Eleven Film); A Town Called Malice 2 (Sky/Vertigo) and EastEnders (BBC). I have also been a Development Assistant at Clerkenwell Films where I worked on The End of the F***ing World 2, BBC TV Drama Writers Programme & BBC Drama Academy. Other script editing and reading experience includes 4Screenwriting Course; Small Town Boy for Danu Media; C4 New TV Drama Writers scheme; Screen Ireland’s Spotlight scheme; Greenlight Screenwriting Lab; Talawa Theatre and The Alfred Fagon Awards. In 2023, I was the host for the BAFTA Guru Live: Demystifying Development session 2023 and Q&A guest speaker at the BAFTA Connect Forum Bristol 2023
I have experience with both new and experienced writers and am passionate about making the writer and script editor relationship collaborative. To Writers, I will never try to write your script for you – I will only ever support you in telling meaningful, inclusive stories that stand out and showcase your voice. To Script Editors, I will not mould you into a carbon copy - I will only advise and champion you and encourage you to find your style of script editing, your process.
