Hi! I’m Maria Odufuye, STORY PRODUCER and the FOUNDER of script-ed. I work closely with writers, showrunners & producers to shape story, structure & character for hetv and film, helping scripts move seamlessly from page to production companies, agents & development schemes. I also design & facilitate script editing workshops, including my workshop intro to script editing & courses for the national film & television school.

My love of storytelling started with playing endless hours of The Sims (I'm a motherlode girlie for those who know), and watching shows such as EastEnders, Heroes, Footballers Wives, Bad Girls and Desperate Housewives - all of which I was far too young to be watching.
I have 10+ years of experience working with words and storytelling across theatre, print, and e-zines. Over the the last five years, I've worked in TV and Film, as a Script Editor on productions including The Iris Affair (Sky, Wildside & Freemantle); Playing Nice (ITV/Rabbit Track Pictures/StudioCanal); Your Christmas or Mine 2 (Amazon/Shiny Button); Sex Education 4 (Netflix/Eleven Film); A Town Called Malice 2 (Sky/Vertigo) and EastEnders (BBC).
Earlier in my career, I was a Development Assistant at Clerkenwell Films, working on The End of the F***ing World 2, BBC TV Drama Writers Programme & BBC Drama Academy. I've also collaborated with production companies, talent schemes and development initiatives including 4Screenwriting Course; BBC Studios; Danu Media; Deadpan Pictures; Hill 5.14 Media, MK1 Studios; C4 New TV Drama Writers scheme; Screen Ireland’s Spotlight scheme; Greenlight Screenwriting Lab; Talawa Theatre and The Alfred Fagon Awards.
I'm passionate about collaborative story production, working with both new and seasoned writers. To Writers, I will never try to write your script for you – I will only ever support you in telling meaningful, inclusive stories that stand out and showcase your voice. To Script Editors, I will not mould you into a carbon copy - I will only advise and champion you, and encourage you to find your style of script editing, your process.
Outside of the services I provide for writers and emerging script editors, in 2023, I was a host for the BAFTA Guru Live: Demystifying Development session. And have also hosted workshops and talks for Channel 4 x NFTS Script to Screen, BAFTA Connect Forum Bristol and a BFI Network Script Editing Masterclass.
